Bob Marley

Bob Marley’s work and legend has dispersed around the world, bringing the message of One Love to the masses. His music is so spiritual and passionate that you can’t fail to be affected by it and the message behind it.

It’s so sad he died at the height of his popularity (like most of our musical icons).

Some Marley quotes to consider for the Conscious Bible:

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.”

"Open your eyes and look within. Are you satisfied with the life you’re living?"

“Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction.”

“The more people smoke herb, the more Babylon fall.”

"Get Up, Stand Up, Stand Up for your Rights. Get Up, Stand Up, Don’t Give Up the Fight!"

“Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man’s skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained… now everywhere is war.”

-Haile Selassie (Bob Marley quoted this in his song – War!)

Bob Marley initiated the first One Love concert in Jamaica. His goal was to unite the people of Jamaica during a time of political turmoil. He managed to get the two main politicial rivals to come on stage and hug.

This is what Marley stood for, unity and love in the face of oppression and war. His message lives on and continues to inspire millions with the hope that the common man can change the world if we just come together in the spirit of love.

Bob, as a Rastafarian, also championed the use of Ganja as a healing herb to be respected and used for its medical, psychological and spiritual properties.
