En"ti*ty (?), n.; pl. Entities (#). [LL. entitas, fr. L. ens, entis, thing, prop. p. pr. of esse to be: cf. F. entité. See Essence, Is.] A real being, whether in thought (as an ideal conception) or in fact; being; essence; existence.
